Dear Smita,

I want to express my sincere gratitude to you for your kindness and support during the three months of Hand therapy sessions with you as this was a difficult time emotionally and physically for me.  I truly believe my speedy recovery had a lot to due with not only your years of experience as a hand therapist but the care and sensitivity you showed me at each and every session.

I had no idea that it would be so painful when the external fixators were taken out of my wrists and arms and was not looking forward to the thought of pain in physical therapy.   

People used to tell me that hand & physical therapy was painful and if you didn’t follow through with it, you will have problems forever.  I had my moments but you made me feel safe, even when I cried.  According to my Orthopedic Surgeon, I am a walking miracle to have the flexibility and range of motion that I have today.   

My Orthopedic surgeon later on told me he was afraid to tell me just how bad my wrists were.   He would only tell me they were badly shattered and that attitude had everything to do with a successful recovery. 

I am happy to report that I don’t experience any pain any longer.  My wrists will never be 100% back to normal but I am delighted with the results with the hand therapy you provided and never really have any problems with them at all. Now I am able to do everything myself, using both my hands, like shampooing my hair, performing all my day-to-day activities, ex: cook food, open can food containers, use my computer keyboard with ease, and best of all drive back and forth to work without anybody’s help.
